Leavell and Bramblett Play at Bama Theatre

Chuck Leavell and Randall Bramblett (of the Randall Bramblett Band) are going to appear onstage at the Bama Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m.  Rolling Stones fans will remember Leavell from his time as a keyboardist with the iconic classic rock band.  He reflects on that day in 1981 when he received a call asking him to audition for the group.  “When I first I got the news, I thought it was a joke.  I went [to the audition] with the attitude that I know the music, love the Stones and had been influenced by their talented keyboardists.  And my main attitude was just to go and have fun.”  Turns out that Leavell got the gig and has played with the Stones for 27 years.

In addition to the Stones, Leavell aslo played with Eric Clapton, George Harrison, The Black Crowes, Blues Traveler and Montgomery Gentry.  Leavell says, “Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would play with The Rolling Stones and George Harrison, one of the Beatles.”

Get Your Favorite Vintage From the Rolling Stones

Yes, it may seem surprising that Mick Jagger and company are behind a new wine label…but hey…apparently Maynard Keenan of Tool is an actual winemaker…so stranger things have happened. Wine that Rock recently revealed its first three varietals of rock inspired wine.  These specialized bottles include: the Forty Licks Merlot, the Woodstock Chardonnay and the Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wines that Rock co-founder Rob Roy said, “Traditionally you create the wine and name it based on its personality.  With these wines, we blasted the music in the cellar of the winery and developed a bottle of wine that captured the attitude of the music.”

Of course there is no real word on what the dudes of the Stones think of the vintage named in their honor…but it does have a cool label!

Grab a bottle of vino and head on out to their next live performance.  You can get Rolling Stones tickets from StubHub today.

The Stones Caught in an Embarrassing Stage Moment

In 1969, the Rolling Stones held a massive concert in London’s Hyde Park.  The event ultimately became a tribute to their fallen bandmate Brian Jones, who was found dead at the bottom of his pool just two days before the gig.  Mick Jagger took the opportunity to dress all in white and read from Shelley’s “Adonais.”  To top it all off, he released thousands of butterflies out in the crowd, but unfortunately most of the winged creatures were already dead (perhaps making the event more macabre than it already was).

Of course the Rolling Stones aren’t the only ones who’ve suffered from awkward stage moments.  Cyndi Lauper got pooped on by a bird, Fergie peed on herself and Neil Young walked onstage completely oblivious that he had a huge glob of cocaine hanging from his nostril.  Good thing we can all look back, laugh and say…oh silly music artists!

Jerry Hall Wants a New Dude

Jerry Hall, former lover of Mick Jagger and mother to four of his children has admitted that, “I wish I had a boyfriend.  It would be a lot of fun but I don’t so [things are] pretty boring.”  Hall married Mick in 1990, 10 years after they started their relationship, but eventually divorced when she discovered that Mick had fathered a child with Brazilian model Luciana Morad.  Jagger is now dating 40-year-old model and designer L’Wren Scott, but Hall insists that she still remains close with her rockstar ex.

She was quoted on the DailyMail.co.uk as saying, “We are very friendly.  We have always got on well - he’s very funny, interesting and intelligent.  We talk on the phone every week and he tries very hard to keep up with the children.  I’m just really happy that Mick hasn’t disappeared.  The thing is that we don’t hate each other.”

Ronnie Wood Lives a Lavish Lifestyle

Not that this comes as a surprise, but guitarist Ronnie Wood has been fairly good at spending his millions over the years.  The famed rock ‘n’ roller just recently had to pay out £6.5 million to his ex-wife Jo in their quickie divorce settlement.  He’s also been known to have spent £170,000 on chauffeured cars and a mere £1000 on flowers.  The man clearly doesn’t want to skimp out on lovely lavishes for his ladies….or himself for that matter.

Ron Wood has been dating Ekaterina Ivanova for since last year, and the pair seems to be going strong, despite a few bumps in the road…like when he threw all of her belongings out of his apartment window.

Now, at least, Ronnie’s divorce is on its way to becoming official.  The chauffeured cars and flowers will all go to Ivanova.  And Jo can’t complain, she gets a cool £6.5 million out of the deal.

The Rolling Stones Rule

In 1969 the Rolling Stones were busy getting their ya-ya’s out in New York’s Madison Square Garden.  Turns out there are still plenty of ya-ya’s to go around.  The Stones recently released the Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! album.  The work features tunes like: “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Midnight Rambler” and “Honky Tonk Women.”  The deluxe, 40th anniversary addition offers an additional five songs, which are bluesy in their origins.  Take a listen to “Prodigal Son,” “You Gotta Move” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”  Other treats featured on the set include opening acts by Ike and Tina Turner and B.B. King.

The accompanying DVD offers fans glimpses of the Stones both on and off of the stage.  Check out the images of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and enjoy a particularly incredible moment when the band members find themselves in the company of the Grateful Dead as the two legendary groups wait for the helicopters that will take them all to the disastrous Altamont Speedway Free Festival.

Ron Wood’s Divorce Official…and Expensive

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood will pay his ex-wife Jo £6.5 million after the pair were given a “quickie” divorce on Nov. 11.  A judge at London’s High Court apparently granted a decree nisi separation for the couple after Ron admitted that he committed adultery.  Of course we all know that the 62-year-old rocker immediately pursued a 19-year-old cocktail waitress by the name of Ekaterina Ivanova.  The two are still together in spite of the age difference and the occurrence of several well-publicized spats.

Poor Ron, the £6.5 million payout is likely to put a dent into his fortune of £35 million.  I guess he will just have to start touring more with the rest of the Stones to make up for it.  Although the classic rockers have not officially announced upcoming tour dates, fans are remaining hopeful that the rockers will take to the road sometime in 2010.  There may possibly even be another album in the works!

Jerry Hall Weighs in on Ronnie Wood’s Affair

Jerry Hall, model and former lover of Mick Jagger, has offered some of her own personal insight into the guitarist’s affair with a woman 40 years his junior.  Hall believes that the infidelity occurred because of “men’s fear of dying,” and expressed her thoughts to the Daily Express.  She continued by saying, “There is no way a woman would ever leave her family for a teenager like that.  No.  It’s about a fear of dying for men; they want to stay immortal.  But you know what, honey?  We’re all dying everyday - it’s just that women are more deeply rooted in reality.”

The Rolling Stones are not currently on tour, but make sure to keep checking back with StubHub for a pair of Rolling Stones tickets.  Ronnie Wood recently hinted that the Stones might be collaborating again soon in the studio and on the road.  See Mick, Keith, Ron and Charlie rock it out onstage when they roll into a city near you!

Rolling Stones Saxophomist Tim Ries to Perform with DePaul University Jazz Ensemble

Tim Ries, the saxophonist for the Rolling Stones, is set to perform his interpretations of several of the Stones’ defining songs when he officially teams up with the DePaul University Jazz Ensemble for a seven-show engagement running Nov. 19-Nov. 22.  The event will take place at Joe and Wayne Segal’s Jazz Showcase in Chicago.  The forthcoming shows will feature Ries’ renditions of many different Stones’ classics like “Honky Tonk Woman,” “Paint It Black,” “Under My Thumb,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” “Ruby Tuesday” and “Wild Horses.”  Ries will be the man leading the 18-piece ensemble.

Ries has performed with the Rolling Stones in the past as part of their three blockbuster world tours.  His previous collaborations have included gigs with some of the most well-known names in music, including the Stones members, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow and many others.  Be sure to check out Tim Ries and also see the rest of the Stones with your own pair of Rolling Stones tickets from StubHub.

Fans Speculating a Rolling Stones Tour For 2010

Once the rumor starts to spread, it catches on like wildfire.  All Ronnie Wood said was that the band members were doing “great” and everyone immediately took that to mean that they would be touring again soon.  The last time the Rolling Stones hit the road was in 2007 on their “Bigger Bang” tour.  Earlier during the week Wood received the Outstanding Contribution award at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honor Awards.  The RS rocker was there with his 20-year-old girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova (yes they are still together for all those who doubted they would last).

Ron Wood did say that he is anticipating another reunion with the Faces and with that perhaps is a very small hint that the Stones will also be packing their bags for a road trip, if not in 2010, maybe 2011.  Fans can keep up to date with all of the latest activity involving Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie and you can get your pair of Rolling Stones tickets today from StubHub.
