Start Me Up In the 1980s

As a Rolling Stones blogger I thought that it might be important to actually listen to a few Stones’ songs while I document the doings of the bad boy rockers.  Naturally I turned to trusty ole Youtube, because you don’t just want the words, you want a visual aid to go along with your favorite tune.  And boy did I get a visual aid…or judging by the color of Mick Jagger’s bright purple shirt, maybe a visual impairment.  The song is titled, “Start Me Up,” I’m sure you’ve heard it before.  The sound is quintessential Rolling Stones.  The band members are: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts.  The dance moves resemble a Richard Simmons workout video and so do the outfits.  And as one listener and viewer commented, “These guys are so good, they don’t have to plug in their instruments. Amazing. They feed the instruments with their own electricity.”

Mick Jagger, who is obviously the most present in the video knows how to still look cool whilst wearing white balloon pants, white sneakers and a tight low cut purple shirt, a feat only a select few might be able to accomplish…one of those might be Madonna.  An unbelievably young looking Keith Richards has a full head of brown wavy locks, considerably less wrinkles and plays the guitar, like he might be mad at it.  Ron Wood has what can only be described as a mane and some pretty sweet silver dangling earrings.  Bill Wyman, stuck in a nauseating powder blue suit and tie, looks both out of place and increasingly irritated throughout the video.  Charlie Watts, smiling and shaking his head throughout the video while he coolly plays the drums looks as if he might be thinking: “Why am I still here, God they look ridiculous.”  He’s right…but it’s a good thing he hung around.  Get your Rolling Stones tickets from Stubhbub.com.
