Hail to the Queen? Not So Much…

This morning, Robert Plant, of Led Zeppelin received the highest honors from the Queen herself.  Many rock stars consider the CBE, or knighthood one of the highest honors in rock n roll.  However some musicians just aren’t very grateful.  In the past Paul Weller refused the Queen’s recognition, as have Ringo Starr, David Bowie, John Lennon, and George Melly.  But the list doesn’t stop there.  One of our favorite bad boys of rock n’ roll snubbed the Queen’s offering of knighthood, even after his bandmate accepted it.  Keith Richards blasted Mick Jagger after Jagger accepted the honor at Buckingham Palace in 2002, accusing his fellow band member of “selling out.”  Richards opted to keep it real, and declined the offer of a CBE for his services to the music industry.  Of course can anyone really picture saying Sir Keith Richards?  See the knights of the Rolling Stones (or the would-be knights) with your pair of Rolling Stones tickets from Stubhub.com.
