The Rolling Stones have become one of the most marketable rock bands of all time. Vintage concert posters, priceless photographs and old ticket stubs are considered gold by some of the group’s most devoted fans. Kariem Hamed is one such follower. He first watched the soon-to-be iconic Stones play at a small club in Amsterdam in 1995 and instantly fell in love. Since then, he has traversed the globe in a quest to see his music heroes perform live at venues worldwide.
Hamed’s collection of Rolling Stones memorabilia is now being showcased as part of the “stART me up! Art Inspired by the Rolling Stones” exhibition at the Gallery Cha, Tongui-dong, central Seoul. Included in the exhibition are paintings by guitarist Ron Wood and photographs of the band members by acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz. On display at the exhibit is the Warhol-designed brown paper bag with the images of the Stones members biting each other. Apparently the bag was distributed during the bash for the Stones’ “Love You Live” album launch in 1977. Any die-hard Stones fan would be fool to miss this. And fools wouldn’t pass up a chance to go to Stubhub.com and get a pair of Rolling Stones tickets.
