Ronnie Wood Wins at the Classic Rock Awards

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood won the outstanding contribution honor at the Classic Rock Awards.  Wood was quoted on the BBC as saying, “It means a lot.  It’s about time - I’ve never had one just for myself.”  Wood, who before the Stones played with The Faces, was rewarded for his “ageless presence on the stage.”  Other big-name stars at the event included former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry.  In addition, musical recognition was given to the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, Cream’s drummer Ginger Baker and the renowned punk pioneer Iggy Pop, who was given the honor of “Living Legend.”

This was the first-ever accolade for Ron Wood, who has been previously honored as part of a music group, but never as a solo artist.  Of course these days Ron can most often be seen strumming it up on stage with the rest of his wild pals: Mick, Keith and Charlie!  See them live by getting your Rolling Stones tickets from StubHub.
