Minnesota Governor and possible 2012 presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty held a D.C. fundraiser last night in a pub downtown. He focused on capturing the attention of young Republicans and opened with a little bit of classic rock ‘n’ roll that apparently is all the rage now. Pawlenty commented: “Mick Jagger said in a song once, ‘you can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.’ For those of us who are Republicans and conservatives, we didn’t get what we wanted in the 2008 election for president but we did get something that we needed. And that is a chance to ask ‘what are the lessons from 2008 and 2006?’” Let the debate begin!
Pawlenty might also want to expand his musical tastes if his true aim is to recruit young folks. The Rolling Stones are awesome…no one is debating that…but they are in their sixties. See these classic rockers perform live in a city near you by going to Stubhub and getting your own pair of Rolling Stones tickets.
